Frequently Asked Questions

  • Two formats: a formal studio portrait in full communion attire, and day-of event coverage at the church and reception. Most families book both — it keeps the portrait separate from a busy ceremony day and gives you images for display and thank-you cards.

  • It’s strongly recommended. First communion day is full of family, ceremony, and parties — the pre-communion portrait session is where a relaxed, formal editorial portrait of the child is actually possible. The session is usually scheduled one to two weeks before the communion.

  • Yes, with the parish’s permission. Make sure to coordinate in advance with the officiant and follow church-specific photography policy. Coverage includes the arrival, the ceremony itself where permitted, and family portraits at the altar afterward.

  • Spring communion dates fill early. Booking three to four months in advance secures the preferred date and leaves room for the pre-communion portrait session.

  • Traditional communion attire — white dress or suit — is the standard for the formal portrait. Wardrobe is discussed in the pre-session consultation, and the studio advises on accessories (veil, rosary, prayer book) that complete the composition without cluttering it. We love to incorporate something they are passionate about at the end for some personality photos.
