Frequently Asked Questions
-
Sessions are photographed in the Northport studio, at a location meaningful to the family (home, beach, garden, estate), or at one of several curated locations across Long Island’s North Shore that the studio recommends based on the season and family aesthetic.
-
Family sessions are designed for immediate families. We can include grandparents, extended family, and multi-generational groupings, with an additional fee structure for large groups.
-
Plan on 60-90 minutes. Larger or multi-generational groups may run longer and are scheduled accordingly.
-
Wardrobe coordination is discussed in the pre-session consultation. The studio advises on palette, texture, and formality rather than asking families to match — the final portraits look intentional, not uniform.
-
Outdoor family sessions are scheduled in the hour before sunset during most of the year, and slightly earlier in the darker winter months. The soft late-afternoon light is part of what gives the final portraits their warmth.
-
Family sessions with young children are scheduled around nap and feeding times. The studio is set up for quick breaks, and the on-location sites the studio recommends all accommodate stroller access and private feeding if needed.
-
Most families come in every one to two years, more frequently while children are very young. Annual holiday sessions and milestone-driven sessions (new baby, graduation, wedding anniversary) are the most common cadence.
